AbstractBackgroundAllergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) is an allergic pulmonary disease caused by a hypersensitivity reaction to Aspergillus colony in the airways. Due to the diversity of disease manifestations and physicians ’ incomplete knowledge of ABPA, patients with ABPA are often misdiagnosed and given poor prognosis.ObjectivesTo investigate the clinical characteristics, treatment and prognosis status among patients with ABPA.MethodsWe retrospectively analyzed 75 patients diagnosed as ABPA in Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University between October 2008 and June 2018.ResultsAmong 75 patients, 28% had asth…

A 67-year-old man with a pulmonary cavity was admitted to our hospital. Mycobacterial culture of the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid sample obtained from the right upper pulmonary lesion tested positive for mycobacterium, and sequencing of the 16S rRNA genes, hsp65, and rpoB revealed that the cultured mycobacterium was Mycobacterium parascrofulaceum. Treatment with antimycobacterial agents was ineffective, and repeated culturing of bronchoscopic specimens revealed that the specimens were positi…

Azole antifungals resistance in Aspergillus fumigatus is a worldwide concern. As in most public hospitals in Brazil, antifungal susceptibility tests are not routinely performed for filamentous fungi at our Institution. A 4 years retrospective azole antifungal resistance screening revealed the two azole-resistant A. fumigatus clinical isolates carrying CYP51A TR34/L98H/S297T/F495I mutation resistance mechanism obtained from two unrelated patients. Broth microdilution antifungal susceptibility showed high MICs for Itraconazole, Posaconazole, and Miconazole. STR typing analysis presented high similarity betw…
