CONCLUSION Third-party EBV-CTLs of defined HLA restriction provide safe, immediately accessible treatment for EBV-PTLD). Secondary treatment with EBV-CTLs restricted by a different HLA allele (switch therapy) can also induce remissions if initial EBV-CTLs are ineffective. These results suggest a promising potential therapy for patients with rituximab-refractory EBV-associated lymphoma after transplantation.TRIAL REGISTRATION Phase II protocols (NCT01498484 and NCT00002663) were approved by the Institutional Review Board at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the FDA, and the National Marrow Donor Program.FUNDING This w…

However, pre-clinical studies have highlighted the low proportion of DAn within hPSC-derived grafts and their inferior plasticity compared to fetal tissue. Here we examined whether delivery of a developmentally critical protein, glial cell line-derived n…

Research into the application of regenerative medicine techniques to regrowth of hair has been ongoing for some time. In principle, the hair follicle is a structure that could be engineered and implanted, or existing follicles induced to restored activity in some way. In practice this is challenging, and most forms of progressive hair loss are far from fully understood at the level of cellular biochemistry in the hair follicle: there is no great guarantee that generating or providing new follicles would have the desired effect, given the surrounding environment and its signaling.

Up to date, treatments for hair lo…

This study evaluated the laboratory and clinical differences in eight Amish patients with CHH with an abnormal TREC result on the NBS. There were four patients with absent TREC and four patients with decreased TREC. The absent TREC patients had lower CD3, CD4, na ïve CD4, CD8 cells, and phytohemagglutinin (PHA)-induced lymphocyte proliferation. Three patients with absent TREC were diagnosed with SCID and two underwent successful HSCT. Patients with absent TREC experienced more CHH-related morbidity including anemia requiring transfusion, Hirschsprung’s di sease, and failure to thrive. No patients with decreased …

AbstractTo investigate the possible risk factors for failure of transplanted eye bank-prepared Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) tissues. In a retrospective study between March 2011 and March 2019, all the failed DSAEK cases (131 cases) reported to the Central Eye Bank of Iran were compared with a surgeon-matched successful DSAEK group (control, 126 cases) in terms of the donor, DSAEK tissue, and recipient characteristics. Univariate analysis indicated that the DSAEK tissue preparation from excised corneoscleral tissues (OR 2.17;P = 0.026) and donor conjunctival hyperemia (OR 1.62;…

This study aimed to determine whether DC-SIGN affects intracellular signaling activation, Th1/Th2 imbalance and aspergillus immune evasion in aspergillus infection, and explore the application of DC-SIGN-modified DCs in immunotherapy.
Methods: DCs were first obtained from the mononuclear cells of peripheral blood. The interferon (IFN)-γ and dexamethasone (Dex) were used to stimulate DCs. The expression of DC-SIGN, Th1 and Th2 cytokines, and the capacity of DCs in stimulating T cells proliferation and phagocytosis, and nuclear factor (NF)-κB activation were analyzed. In addition, adenovirus expression vecto…
