Sky News host Cory Bernardi says there is a growing proxy-war in Ukraine between western countries and their “perpetual adversary” Russia as they have seemingly “no interest” in helping to stop the war.

“There is a growing awareness the proxy war in Ukraine is being fuelled by interests that frankly care more about destroying Russia than saving Ukraine,” Mr Bernardi said.

“More people are seeing this war effectively began with a US backed coup of 2014 that saw the replacement of the Ukrainian government, since then ethnic Russians have been targeted by Neo-Nazi groups operating under sanction by the Ukraine government.

“In one media account from 2014 a member of the notorious Azov Battalion claimed Nazi’s were happy to fight Russia because quote ‘Putin is a Jew’ the list of atrocities in the – civil war was appalling and that’s not to say it was all one way, it certainly wasn’t, a war takes two sides to fight.

“There’s also the matter of the relentless creep of NATO toward the Russian border that the Russians have expressed to much concern about over a very long time – one non-negotiable pillar of Russian national security was Ukraine was to remain a neutral country and yet both President Zelensky and US Vice President Kamala Harris endorsed Ukraine joining NATO.

“It was like a red rag to the bull and the bull charged pushing troops over the border and into the current dispute we have – I’ve never bought into the narrative Russia wants to conquer Europe, nor that Putin is a bad man – while the west seems happy to perpetuate this conflict by throwing military weapons, munitions and ordinances at Ukraine, they also deny it’s a proxy war between US neo-cons and their aggressive foreign policy versus their perpetual adversary, Russia, they’ve never let go of the cold-war.

“Many western leaders, most notably the US and the UK show no interest in stopping this war.”
